About Louis XVI Watches
Louis XVI is a German brand designing watches with a neo-classical aesthetic inspired by 18th-century French court style. All watches use genuine sapphire crystal, solid (not hollow) stainless steel cases, and movements from reputable Japanese (Miyota) or Swiss (Ronda) manufacturers — a combination usually found at higher price points.
Models Tested
We wore three models over 10 weeks: the Majesté dress watch, the Napoleon sport model, and the Athos chronograph. Wear rotated between our testers including daily office wear, weekend casual, and one formal event.
Build Quality
The sapphire crystal on all three models resisted scratching through 10 weeks including knocks against desks and doorframes. The bracelet links are solid throughout — no hollow centre links — and the clasp is ratcheted with a security pushbutton. The finishing on the cases is well-executed at the price, with brushed and polished surfaces clearly differentiated.
Movement Accuracy
The Majesté (Miyota 9015) averaged +4 seconds per day over our test period — within COSC chronometer tolerances for a movement at this price tier. The Ronda quartz in the Athos was accurate to within 3 seconds per month.
Wearability
Standard 22mm lug width means strap options are near-infinite. The mid-case thicknesses (10.5mm–12mm) slide comfortably under shirt cuffs. Lug-to-lug distances are proportioned for average to larger wrists.
Verdict
Louis XVI delivers genuine watchmaking quality — sapphire crystal, solid steel, accurate movements — at prices that undercut Swiss brands significantly. A strong choice for someone wanting a quality everyday or dress watch without the premium branding uplift.
