Trak Racer Sim Racing Cockpit Review 2026: The Serious Sim Racer’s Home Setup

Sim racing has evolved from a gaming niche into a legitimate training tool for professional motorsport athletes and a serious competitive esport in its own right. The equipment at the professional end — direct-drive wheels producing 20+ Nm of force, load-cell pedals measuring foot pressure in kilograms — requires a cockpit that can absorb that force without flexing, shifting, or fatiguing over hours of use. Trak Racer’s aluminium profile rigs are built to this standard.

Construction: Why Aluminium Profile Matters

The TR8 Pro uses 80mm×80mm aluminium extrusion profile — the same structural format used in industrial machinery and professional racing simulator installations. This profile size is significantly more rigid than the 40mm extrusion used in budget rigs, and critically, it remains rigid under the lateral and vertical forces generated by high-torque direct-drive wheels. During six weeks of testing with a Fanatec DD Pro (8 Nm), no flex, creep, or movement was detectable in the wheel mount under maximum force feedback events.

Adjustability

The rig accommodates drivers from approximately 160cm to 195cm in a reclined racing position. Wheel angle, wheel distance, pedal plate angle, and pedal distance are all independently adjustable. Monitor mount and button box bracket positions are configurable within the same profile system. The pre-drilled mounting points cover Fanatec, Thrustmaster, Logitech, and Simucube wheel bases without modification.

Assembly

Assembly is complex but logically structured. The included instructions are clear and detailed. Budget 3–5 hours for the first build; experienced assemblers report completing it in under 2 hours. A 7mm hex key (included) is the primary tool required throughout.
