What Is Ohora?
Ohora produces semi-cured gel nail strips — pre-shaped gel films that are partially cured at the factory, then completed with a personal UV lamp at home. The result is a genuine gel manicure finish (not polish, not regular wrap) achieved without a salon visit, salon pricing, or salon scheduling.
Application Process
The application learning curve is real but short. First-time application across our testers averaged 35 minutes; by the third application, most were completing in 20–25 minutes. The strip sizing range covers most nail shapes well — smaller nails required trimming but the strips cut cleanly with the included nail file.
Finish Quality
The cured finish is genuinely indistinguishable from a professional gel set in photographs and at normal viewing distance. The gloss is deep, not plastic-surface-level. Design quality is high — Ohora commissions original patterns rather than repurposing generic designs.
Longevity
On our 4 testers over 6 weeks (6 applications total): average chip-free wear was 14 days. One tester with active hand use (frequent handwashing, food preparation) achieved 10 days. One tester with lower activity reported 18 days before visible edge wear. Both results compare favourably with salon gel sets.
Removal
Standard gel remover (acetone) with foil wrap — identical to salon gel removal. Not a simple peel-off process, which some users may find inconvenient. No damage to natural nail when removed correctly.
Verdict
Ohora delivers what it claims — a genuine gel manicure experience at home that outlasts regular polish significantly. The UV lamp investment is the barrier but amortises quickly if you do your nails regularly. For anyone maintaining a gel finish weekly or biweekly, the cost and time saving over salons is substantial.
