How We Measured Performance
We used a calibrated particle counter (0.3μm resolution) in a sealed 635 sq ft room, measuring PM2.5 and PM0.3 particle reduction over 30-minute intervals at each fan speed setting. We also ran sustained tests over 72 hours to evaluate filter degradation and consistency. Nine purifiers competed.
Why the Core 600S Leads
CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 410 CFM at maximum speed. In our 635 sq ft test room, it reduced PM2.5 particles by 98.3% in 18 minutes — faster than every other purifier in our test at any price. The H13 HEPA filter captures particles as small as 0.1μm, which covers viruses, bacteria, pet dander, pollen, and smoke.
Noise Performance
At the Sleep setting, we measured 24 dB — quieter than a whispered conversation. At Medium, 42 dB. At Maximum, 52 dB. The trade-off: maximum speed is noticeable, but medium speed — which still achieved 94% PM2.5 reduction in our 635 sq ft room within 30 minutes — is genuinely comfortable background noise.
Smart Features
The built-in PM2.5 sensor adjusts fan speed automatically in Auto mode. In our testing, it detected a cooking smoke event within 90 seconds and reached maximum speed within 2 minutes, then returned to sleep within 8 minutes of the smoke clearing. The VeSync app provides historical air quality data — useful for identifying patterns (morning traffic, cooking hours).
Running Costs
Filter replacement every 6–8 months at approximately £25–35 per filter. Electricity cost at medium speed continuous operation: approximately £15–18 per year at UK average rates. Total annual running cost well below competitors with proprietary filter systems.
Our Verdict
The Levoit Core 600S delivers objectively better air cleaning than its price suggests. If you need a purifier for a bedroom, open-plan kitchen, or home office — and you want the air actually clean rather than just processed through a filter — this is the one to buy.
